For serious acne a course of Roaccutane (a vitamin A derivative) can work, although this is a serious treatment, with side effects and should not be taken by anyone trying for children. You should consult your doctor, they may also prescribe minocycline, an antibiotic. You should look at glycolic skin washes, Jan Marini range does a good one. Also products which help keep the skin clear of dead skin cells - salicylic acid is a key component. I have just ordered a new product called 'Zeno' which claims to kill the bacteria by delivering a concentrated heat treatment to the affected area. Will let you know how it goes!
