Blinc mascara is amazing- it looks really good and you only need hot water to remove it. It creates tubes around your eyelashes, which just slide off when you apply hot water. It's seriously good. Won't come off with rubbing and it won't run either. You can get it at blincuk.co.uk, missgroovy.co.uk and hqhair.

I use bad gal mascara by benefit it is amazing!! and a decent price at around £18. as for eye makeup remover i use clarins instant eye make up remover £15 it just glides on and you do not have to rub and rub which is great it gets even the heaviest makeup off in one sweep!

I've used the Body Shop's camomile eye make-up remover since the dawn of time and wouldn't use anything else. I wear contact lenses and have sensitive eyes but it's never caused me any trouble.

Anything that doesn't irritate your eyes is good, and whatever you use, don't scrub it onto your eyes and lashes, but soak cotton wool or a muslin cloth in the stuff and press it gently onto the make-up to give it a chance to dissolve it before you wipe it away. What I'm loving at the moment is Rodial's A-list Cleanser which is a thick balm that you massage all over your face and which just gets everything off when you rinse (£48 at www.spacenk.co.uk); less expensive and v gentle is Dermalogica's Soothing Eye Makeup Remover (£16.40 at www.dermalogica.co.uk)which is oil-free and has the same pH as your tears, so it doesn't sting.
