I know - the perfect daytime winter boots, eh? Very difficult to track down, but I have had most luck in the shoe department at Top Shop on Oxford Circus. Dune is particularly good at boots; Faith and Office are not bad either. I wouldn't go too far up-market, as these are boots you'll want to bash about a bit. Two flat boots are really worth a look right now: the biker boot (brilliant at Gap for £65, but not knee-high) and the riding boot. I would go straight to the horse's mouth, so to speak, to get a pair of proper equestrian boots (look at www.divoza.co.uk). They'll last a lifetime and are peculiarly sexy. No need to buy the whip, mind.
